14. Do you have any tips on completing my product submission?

Make sure to provide a complete and accurate description of your product, claims, testing, distribution and current sales. Be sure you outline the products benefits- so we might be able to “see” them from the submission.

Additionally, we want to hear your story! Tell us why you made the product. Did it satisfy a need you had, or did you “re-imagine” a product to better serve your needs? Either way, we want to know the “why” behind the brand. Make sure you tell us about the brand name as well. Some names are easy to understand but if there is a significance with your name, color or logo, be sure to include that information too. Do you have a patent? Have you trademarked your name and logo?

We want to know as much as we can about you. It’s not just the product we invest in, we invest in the person too.

15. Can I change my application after I submit it?

Please take your time submitting. Due to the quantity of submissions we receive, it is very difficult to make revisions on applications while they are in our review cycle.

16. How long will it take to receive a response from SLC regarding my product submission?

Typically, you should expect to hear from SLC within 4 weeks of submitting, but please know that holidays, and travel schedules, etc. might push the timeline a week or so.

17. Can I check the status of my submission?

Unfortunately, no. Please allow us the proper time frame to effectively review your submission.

18. Can I resubmit a product?

Once you have heard back from us regarding a product, please do not resubmit that product , unless within the submission process SLC reached out and gave feedback which would then cause you time to fix, change or alter your product. Then re-submitting would take a different path and you would not go through the same website link. If you have additional products in the future, you are always welcome to submit those.

19. What does it mean if SLC determines they don’t want to invest in my product?

There are several reasons SLC might determine not to invest:

  • The product competes with a similar brand SLC already has in its product portfolio
  • The product just isn’t ready for retail or representation
  • SLC doesn’t see the market for the product as you represented
  • Your “ask” was unrealistic
  • SLC doesn’t think we can add any significant value to your business
  • The brand doesn’t really need an investment and sometimes other options will be given
  • The product isn’t of interest at this time to SLC -sometimes SLC looks for specific categories to round out its portfolio- Your timing could be off.

20. You mentioned that SLC is also a service provider. What types of services do they offer?
